Green is the original name given to the rival of the to a major character in the Pokémon Special Manga. While this name was the original, it is rarely used outside of Japan, most of the time by huge fans. So, how does original name represent the character?
Green symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. This shade isn’t very representative of either version of Blue. Neither could correspond with safety. Both grow quickly however; neither seems to feel any type of harmony.
Dark Green is associated with ambition, greed, and jealousy. This shade is highly representative of the game’s Blue who is jealous of Red for “stealing” his grandfather’s affection. He is also highly ambitious and is willing to get rid of his Pokémon if it helps him complete his Pokédex.
Yellow-Green can indicate sickness, cowardice, discord, and jealousy. As seen above, the Blue of the game is highly representative of jealousy and while he is neither sick nor a coward; he is filled with discord. Blue is never satisfied because he can never get the attention he wants and deserves from his grandfather.
Aqua is associated with emotional healing and protection. This shade represents both versions of Blue. The game Blue is able to heal emotionally between the Red/Blue/Green/Yellow and Gold/Silver/Crystal game. The Blue of the manga better represents the protection factor. He always works his hardest to protect his family and friends.
Olive Green is the traditional color of peace. This shade fits neither Blue.
Overall, Green appears to be more representative of the game Blue however each Blue is represented by some factors of the color Green. Neither of them fully corresponds to the color Green and each character only represents a couple of the different shades.
